*ARROWS: Airborne Rescue & Relief Operations with Search (Peace Winds Japan, NPO)
ARROWS is an emergency medical project aimed to provide immediate rescue and treatment services in response to large-scale natural disasters. Our goal is to leverage transportation methods such as airplanes, helicopters and ships to send rescue teams including doctors, nurses, rescue workers and rescue dogs to disaster sites.
We launched our first operation in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture the day after the 2024 Noto Earthquake struck. From immediate rescue and medical treatment to distribution of supplies and mid to long-term recovery efforts, we provide optimal relief assistance (excepted from the ARROWS website)

Light was once considered a metaphysical symbol of something greater than god, greater than humans, but through the development of modern science, it has been identified as waves and particles. Once dismissed by science and technology, the idea that light is a metaphysical force is gaining attention once again.
When light is viewed microscopically, the light particles, though separated, are strangely moving in unison as if they were communicating telepathically. When the world is viewed macroscopically, light paints a picture onto a canvas of continents, in a dynamic depiction of an enormous life form, of movement, and of flow. It is sending a message that surpasses human understanding.
It is perhaps that the new visual experiences and knowledge bestowed upon us by science and technology give more depth and creativity to the mystery of natural life. To know light in our modern existence is to stand before the origin of life and question its meaning once again.

"Astral" Movie

Our aim is to have man-made balloons and natural plants co-exist on the same plane of existence through time and space.
Balloons wither over time while plants grow, and we captured the crossing of their paths on video through a month of filming.

Imagination | There is an abundance of imagination that lays dormant within adelusion. However, that imagination is nonexistentuntil it takes on a tangible form or symbol. All imagination must pass through a deep tunnel to become reality. The darker the tunnel the imagination is in, the more detail we see when a light shines onto it.

"Bubbles"
DAISY BALLOON Book vol.2

Bubbles | Liquids and bubbles which indicate the presence of gas do not have a particular place of belonging. It suggests the temporary nature of phase transition. Bubbles are made up of gas and a membrane that gives it shape, and when that membrane bursts, it returns to nothing. All bubbles vanish at their final destination. Solids and liquids eventually fade away. There is nothing perpetual about their existence, and as they foretell us of their own fate, they give us a glimpse of both illusion and reality.

DAISY BALLOON Book vol.2

A Different Nature | In theory, it would be impossible to fuse different substances together even if they were composed of the same basic elements. In the example of water and oil, when they are oppositional by nature, they will neither yield to one another nor blend. However, where different substances cannot merge, an understanding can be reached. To understand the nature and individuality of different beings; to understand history and the meaning of life is to know oneself and have an awareness of our common origins. It is none other than a constructive process of building a future with the things around us.

Beauty
DAISY BALLOON Book vol.2

Beauty | All living organisms are destined for death the moment they are born. Most flowers begin as a seed, grow petals, wither, bear fruit, then return to seed.In this process, there is a moment in which beauty casts its hue. However, beauty itself cannot be permanently captured in that moment, so why is it that the concept of beauty even exists? What is the meaning contained within this thing we call beauty which eventually decays away? A flower boasting its full bloom is a symbol of beauty, but inside, it carries an inherent ugliness. Take the interpretation of beauty, and when you sway it, it looks as though the swaying motion itself becomes what is beautiful.

"Genetics"
DAISY BALLOON Book vol.2

Genetics | Vital to the fate of an organism is the passing of DNA onto the next generation. The heart seed vine, whose name contains both heart and seed, has an appearance similar to a balloon. It too leaves behind its DNA by sending its seeds far into the distance in their heart shaped pods. Inanimate objects, as we know, do not contain the type of DNA information stored in seeds. However, the Japanese arts and spirit have a supernatural aura and a life force that continue to be inherited like genetics.

“Forest Apple Bear”
DAISY BALLOON Book vol.1

The various scenes from the story, from the feast to the flowers, are created with balloon art. The technique behind the art is just as important as the story they tell. In this work, we explore the more technical features of balloons so that we can appreciate their rather essential qualities. Balloons come in many forms, from clear to matte and opaque. In this work, we focus on clear balloons to see what can be accomplished through layering. We also transgress the conventional notion of balloons as decorative ornaments by transforming them into products that can be ‘worn’ such as dresses. From this, we give birth to a new relationship between body and balloon.

“The Art of Layering”
DAISY BALLOON Book vol.1

When small pieces, as little as one micrometer in size, come together in complex layers, they give birth to a new formation. Like this bear dress, if we break it down into its smallest units, it is made up of small, medium and large bears. These building blocks have the same genetic makeup, that is, the same deoxyribonucleic acid ＝ DNA as its final product. The same concept applies to the dog dress. We drew this inspiration from the way living organisms are created in nature. From a different perspective, this book is a collaborative effort between photographer and head stylist, each with their own unique styles ＝ a harmonious layering of creativity. As if a piece of pop art were eroding and exposing a layer of mod.

“The Art of Layering”
DAISY BALLOON Book vol.1

Flowing. Airy. Fluttering. These are the 3 movements that inspired our work and it is through our work that we push the boundaries of balloon art. In the world of possibilities, we get back to the basics and ask, what exactly is a balloon dress, is it wearable? We take the dress apart into its basic pieces and liberate ourselves from our preconceived notions of balloons. Our quest is not only to create new forms, but to explore the properties of balloons, from color and radiance to texture and durability. We created this book not to tell a story, but to serve as a manual to reveal the possibilities of balloon art.
